Grand Theft Auto VI Release Reportedly Delayed to 2026

Rockstar Games may be pushing back the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI to 2026, according to a report from GTABase journalist, Liam.

Liam, who has accurately shared insider information in the past, states that the delay comes from multiple developers across two studios. The game is now expected to launch between early and mid-2026. Additionally, the PC version could see a delay of 12 to 18 months after the console release, similar to previous Rockstar titles.

As of now, Rockstar's official announcement still targets a Fall 2025 release, with no formal response to these new claims. Fans are eager to learn more, especially since the game is confirmed to introduce its first female protagonist, Lucia, though further details about the game remain under wraps.

About Grand Theft Auto VI

Grand Theft Auto VI is an upcoming action-adventure game in development by Rockstar Games. It is due to be the eighth main Grand Theft Auto game, following Grand Theft Auto V (2013), and the sixteenth entry overall. Set within the fictional open world state of Leonida—based on Florida—and its Miami-inspired Vice City, the story is expected to follow the criminal duo of Lucia and her male partner.

Following years of speculation and anticipation, Rockstar confirmed in February 2022 that the game was in development. That September, footage from unfinished versions was leaked online in what journalists described as one of the biggest leaks in the history of the video game industry. The game was formally revealed in December 2023 and is scheduled to be released in late 2025 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
